Students complete online learning and attend a part day course (up to 3 hours) with their trainer. This course is ideal for those with limited experience or those who prefer to spend more time in the classroom refreshing their knowledge and practicing the skills involved in first aid.
What is HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting?
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting is a nationally recognised training course designed for educators, childcare workers, and school staff who are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children. This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to a wide range of first aid situations, including asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, choking, injuries, and emergency incidents specific to infants and children. It meets the regulatory requirements for first aid training in education and childcare environments, ensuring that staff can confidently manage emergencies and provide immediate care until professional medical help arrives.
Express Course
Face to Face Practical
Students complete pre-course learning and attend a shorter course of up to 3 hours with their trainer. This course is ideal for those with experience, having completed first aid training previously or for those working in the medical/childcare field. Students attending an express course will complete the practical assessments and the completion of the pre-course learning assisted with refreshing their knowledge to prepare for the assessment. All theory assessments are completed prior to attending the assessment.
Express Courses

Pre-Course Learning
The online pre-course learning consists of presentations, and multiple-choice questions aimed to prepare students for further training and or assessment. The pre-course learning can also be completed by a hard copy workbook, or in-class with the trainer if organised before-hand.

The Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting Statement of Attainment can be issued on the same day and is renewable every 3 years with the CPR unit renewable annually.
